Office Mornings

Office Mornings

The office was quiet,

Tame and calm,

People shortly arrived,

And chatted over coffee,

The printer was refilled with ink,

Blinds rolled up to the ceiling,

AC at room temperature,

The boardroom chairs were ordered,

Notifications of emails were ringing,

The janitor soon came with trash bins,

Receptionist typing was repetitive clicks,

Sharp office tables were arranged neatly,

Cold, white light bulbs brought lighting into the space and dangled from the ceiling,

The clocks ticked at a congruous pace,

Floor carpets were vacuumed,

Maintenance staff wipe the windows outside,

The rolling of the chairs rumbled,

As people took their seats,

opening their calendars,

This office morning.
